March Madness Field of 65 to be finalized Sunday

This year's March Madness bracket battles are just a few days away and the field of 65 is slowly but surely, starting to unravel.

As of press time, only nine teams are definitely assured of the March Madness bracket spot. Pennsylvania from the Ivy League, Winthrop of Big South, Belmont of Atlantic Sun, Davidson from Southern and Eastern Kentucky from Ohio Valley have already earned their spots.

Joining them are the likes of Creighton from the Missouri Valley, VCU of the Colonial Atlantic, Niagara of the MAAC and Gonzaga of the West Coast, all earning automatic bids to the 2007 March Madness bracket tournament.

That means we have 56 more spots to fill eh? And yes, it's no coincidence that only Gonzaga is the lone big-name team to earn an automatic bid with merely six days away from selection Sunday.

Those 56 available spots are fair game for the rest of the NCAA College Basketball teams looking to earn their ticket to this year's March Madness. Any team can still make their move, besides, nobody can really say these teams will make it UNTIL they do anyway.

If there's one thing to learn about these March Madness bracket battles, it would have to be the fact that it's all about match-ups. It won't matter if you're the no.1 ranked team in the country or the last team to earn a March Madness invite.

If you saw how the George Mason Patriots ALMOST shock the rest of us, you'll know what I mean.

Unfortunately, George Mason, last year's March Madness Cinderella team, failed to make it to the field of 65 this season after bowing to the VCU Rams, ironically, 65-59.

Who will be the Cinderella team this year and win the NCAA College Basketball championship? Here are some odds from Bodog sportsbook.

Florida Gators 9/2

Ohio State Buckeyes 8/1

North Carolina Tar Heels 5/1

UCLA Bruins 8/1
