Tales that has come and go in March Madness Bracket

The 2007 March Madness bracket battles are underway.

The wait is finally over as the first round of this year's March Madness bracket wars have been waged. The March Madness bracket tournament has been around for quite some time now and for those of you new to this annual spectacle of NCAA College Basketball, George Mason's improbable march in last year's bracket battles is perhaps the single-most significant event you'll remember.

Aside from George Mason's Cinderella season last year, there are quite a handful of feel-good stories the March Madness bracket brought to the table.

In 1983, watching Jimmy Valvano celebrate after his North Carolina State Wolfpack shock Houston was something. Sidney Lowe led the Wolfpack, letting Valvano parade around the hardwood in jubilation.

Sidney Lowe is the current mentor of the North Carolina State Wolfpack.

In 1985, the Kansas Jayhawks, the same basketball program included in the ''big four'' of the 2007 March Madness bracket battles, proved just how much the crowd can play in the outcome of a basketball game.

Larry Brown's Kansas Jayhawks were 12-8 at one point and heard chants of ''NIT, NIT.'' However, Danny Manning must not have been listening as he put the Jayhawks on his back and led them to the title. Yep, the Jayhawks sure have a lot of success already as they head to the 2007 March Madness bracket battles.

Can the Florida Gators successfully defend their NCAA College Basketball championship? Here are some odds from Bodog sportsbook.

Florida Gators 9/2

Ohio State Buckeyes 8/1

North Carolina Tar Heels 5/1

It's the 2007 March Madness Bracket Selection Sunday!

The Field of 65 is finally coming out.

With the final Field of 65 getting ready to be finalized Sunday, this 2007 season's March Madness bracket picture is finally clear... ALMOST. With only FOUR at-large bids left, here are the NCAA College Basketball teams you'll more likely STILL see when the entire field is finalized.

Tuesday night was BIG for this 2007 NCAA College Basketball season's March Madness bracket. Butler lost at Wright State in the Horizon League championship game, giving the Bulldogs a spot in the at-large pool.

You just know that these guys will take away a March Madness bracket spot and join the likes of the Sun Belt conference champions, North Texas and Oral Roberts, your 2007 Mid-Con champions.

NCAA College Basketball teams in the ACC Conference like the North Carolina Tar Heels and the Duke Blue Devils seem destined to continue their ongoing rivalry in the 2007 March Madness bracket battles.

North Carolina Tar Heels sophomore sensation Tyler Hansbrough will definitely be out for blood after Duke left him with a bloody nose in their last encounter. I will definitely watch out for that one.

As for this season's ''darlings of college hoops'' if you will, the Ohio State Buckeyes of the Big Ten Conference and the Texas Longhorns from the Big 12 are the BIG BOYS looking no less than an NCAA College Basketball championship this year.

Ohio State's Greg Oden and Kevin Durant of the Texas Longhorns are just looking to outplay each other this year and whoever lasts the longer in this year's March Madness bracket battles may very well bag the overall No.1 spot in the coming NBA Draft.

Nine teams have already taken a spot in the 2007 March Madness bracket battles. Pennsylvania from the Ivy League, Winthrop of Big South, Belmont of Atlantic Sun, Davidson from Southern and Eastern Kentucky from Ohio Valley have already earned their spots.

Joining them are the likes of Creighton from the Missouri Valley, VCU of the Colonial Atlantic, Niagara of the MAAC and Gonzaga of the West Coast, all earning automatic bids to the 2007 March Madness bracket tournament.

And if there's one thing you should bear in mind as we watch the 2007 March Madness bracket unfold, it's to expect NOTHING.

Who will win the NCAA College Basketball championship? Here are some odds from Bodog sportsbook.

Florida Gators 9/2

Ohio State Buckeyes 8/1

North Carolina Tar Heels 5/1

UCLA Bruins 8/1

March Madness Field of 65 to be finalized Sunday

This year's March Madness bracket battles are just a few days away and the field of 65 is slowly but surely, starting to unravel.

As of press time, only nine teams are definitely assured of the March Madness bracket spot.

That means we have 56 more spots to fill eh? And yes, it's no coincidence that only Gonzaga is the lone big-name team to earn an automatic bid with merely six days away from selection Sunday.

Those 56 available spots are fair game for the rest of the NCAA College Basketball teams looking to earn their ticket to this year's March Madness. Any team can still make their move, besides, nobody can really say these teams will make it UNTIL they do anyway.

If there's one thing to learn about these March Madness bracket battles, it would have to be the fact that it's all about match-ups. It won't matter if you're the no.1 ranked team in the country or the last team to earn a March Madness invite.

If you saw how the George Mason Patriots ALMOST shock the rest of us, you'll know what I mean.

Unfortunately, George Mason, last year's March Madness Cinderella team, failed to make it to the field of 65 this season after bowing to the VCU Rams, ironically, 65-59.

Who will be the Cinderella team this year and win the NCAA College Basketball championship? Here are some odds from Bodog sportsbook.

Florida Gators 9/2

Ohio State Buckeyes 8/1

North Carolina Tar Heels 5/1

UCLA Bruins 8/1
